In the past few weeks, the active COVID-19 cases in Dadar, Byculla, and Bandra have more than doubled leading to a sharp spike in the coronavirus cases. While Wadala, Sion, Parel, Lalbaug, Dahisar, Andheri, and Mulund saw a 50% rise in COVID-19.

As reported by Mid-Day, G- ward that comprises Dadar, Mahim, and Dharavi have seen the highest spike in active COVID-19 cases. It has gone from 82 to 236. Dharavi however has only 13 active cases but Mahim has 131 active cases and Dadar 92.

Assistant commissioner of G-North ward Kiran Dighavkar said to the media, “This is the result of aggressive testing at crowded places and buildings where more cases are detected. But there is minimal hospitalization and even the death rate is very low.”

Byculla which comes under E-ward had reported a number of cases in an orphanage which subsequently led to a rise in cases in other parts of the area. At the lowest point of the second wave on August 16, the ward had only 67 active cases but now has 171 active cases. Mulund that comes under T- ward has also recorded a rise in the number of cases.

Andheri West which is under the K-west ward has 285 active cases and is the most among all 24 wards of Mumbai.
