While people continue to be locked in and continue to work from home, there was something to look forward to on July 22, 2020. The skyline of Mumbai became all colourful and Mumbaikars tapped into their inner photographers and took to capture all shades that it had to offer.
From stark blues that merged with the sea-shore, to the oranges and reds that looked picturesque at the backdrop of high rise building, social media was filled with pictures that are fit to be printed into postcards. Some pictures even hailed them as the Northern Lights of Mumbai.
For those unaware, Northern Lights is a phenomenon that occurs naturally due to the gases emitted in Earth's atmosphere. The energetic particles from the sun react with Earth's atmosphere and the gases that are present to form myriad of colour and patterns in the sky that the skywatchers crave to catch. The northern lights are visible mostly in the Scandinavian countries, US, Canada and even in the UK in the months through April to November. However, there is no set pattern for how they will appear and even predicting a sighting is very difficult.
While the sighting in Mumbai 'was not exactly' Northern Light, the skywatchers had the same delight spotting the various patterns made by the clouds and the shades and moods of the sky just before the sunset.
