The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to build a cycle track on the sidewalk along the protective wall around the Mahalaxmi race court, and the proposal for the same was passed in the standing committee meeting on Tuesday, November 9.

The civic administration has proposed a budget of  INR 1.22 crore for the track.

The protective wall that is adjacent to the Mahalaxmi racecourse is in a bad condition currently. Therefore, the BMC has proposed to build a protective wall and repair the sidewalk, and a cycle track will be constructed at the same place. The civic body's proposal also intends on ending the illegal parking along the sidewalk.

The BMC's cycle track work is expected to get over in four months.

For constructing cycling tracks throughout Mumbai, the BMC is working with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The project is supported by the Mumbai Suburban’s guardian minister Aaditya Thackeray as he is backing environmentally friendly non-motorised transport.

Likewise, several corporators have undertaken projects of cycle tracks at Dahisar, Borivali, BKC, Dadar.

Meanwhile, BMC is also planning on developing the city's first baby park in Agripada in Mumbai Central and will spend INR 2.14 crores for its construction. The baby park will have a separate place for children and infants. It will also have a separate room for feeding the infants. This proposal was also taken for discussion in the standing committee meeting.
