According to a latest update in the ongoing political drama in Maharashtra, the newly formed government led by Eknath Shinde and his deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will take a decision on cabinet expansion after July 13.

This statement was made by the rebel Shiv Sena MLA Deepak Kesarkar while talking to media.

"There is no chance for expanding the cabinet before July 13 as some of our MLAs and BJP MLAs will visit Delhi for a meeting related to the upcoming Presidential election," Kesarkar was quoted as saying by ANI.

Meanwhile, commenting on former Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray’s live address, Kesarkar said, "It is just political tactics (by the Uddhav faction). We have the majority in the Maharashtra Assembly. Those who have a majority have formed a government in Maharashtra recently."

On the other hand, the Supreme Court (SC) will today, July 11, hear a plea filed by Thackeray, challenging Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari's decision to invite Eknath Shinde to form the government and also the Speaker's election and floor test.

Earlier, reports were doing rounds that expansion is likely to take place on July 12 or 13 as the CM and DCM expect the cabinet expansion before the Presidential election slated on July 18. Sources slated that it will only take place after the Ashadhi Ekadasi slated for July 10 when CM Eknath Shinde will perform the traditional Pooja at Vitthal Rakhumai temple in Pandharpur.
