Actor Dilip Kumar on Oxygen Support; diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion

Bollywood Veteran Dilip Kumar complained of breathlessness in the morning on Sunday, June 6, 2021, post which he was admitted at PD Hinduja Hospita for treatment. Dr Jalil Parkar confirmed that he is not in the ICU and his health is stable.

Bollywood's legendary actor Dilip Kumar has not been keeping well for a few days now, on Sunday, June 6, complained of breathing issues. He is now admitted at Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital on Sunday. Information regarding the same was shared by his wife, Saira Banu.

The message was also shared on his official Twitter account which read, "Dilip Sahab has been admitted to non-Covid PD Hinduja Hospital Khar for routine tests and investigations. He’s had episodes of breathlessness. A team of healthcare workers led by Dr. Nitin Gokhale is attending to him. Please keep Sahab in your prayers and please stay safe."

 

Popular publication, Filmfare, took to Twitter to share an update about his health and said, "Veteran actor #DilipKumar has reportedly been diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion along with a drop in oxygen saturation. He has been put on oxygen support as of now."

This information was confirmed by Dr. Jalil Parkar in an interview with TOI, who further added that the actor is not in the ICU. His health is stable and shall be discharged in 2-3 days, if he recovers. Besides Dr. Jalil Parkar, Dilip Kumar is being attended by Dr. Nitin Gokhale too. 

A few hours earlier, in an interview with the Indian Express, she said that her husband was taken to the hospital at 8.30 am, after experiencing breathlessness. A few tests have been done currently and a team of doctors are treating him for the same. 

Earlier in May, the actor was admitted due to health issues, however, Saira confirmed that they were at the hospital for a routine check-up. Dilip Kumar is 98 years old, and has been unwell for a few years, due to which hospital visits have become regular. His wife accompanies him always and the fraternity and fans share their wishes on social media.

Last year, the actor's two younger brothers, Ahsan and Aslam, passed away due to coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. In an interview, Saira said that the family was finding it difficult to cope up with the loss, and the actor had not planned anything for the birthday in December. Dilip Kumar was also under self-quarantine last year.

Upon knowing about his ill health, NCP chief, Sharad Pawar and his wife visited the hospital in Khar to understanding more and show support.
