BMC resumes vaccination drive across city; Check out the list of centres

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday released a list of centres administering the vaccines today (June 4).

This comes a day after the civic body suspended the vaccination drive in civic- and state-run centres for a day on Thursday, June 3, due to a shortage of doses.

On Thursday, the BMC received 94,000 doses of Covishield and Covaxin, reports stated. Moreover, in a bid to scale up the immunisation drive in Mumbai, the civic body has requested the state government to supply at least 12 lakh vaccine doses for June. BMC aims to inoculate about 50,000 beneficiaries per day this month.

Continuing its current system for the next two days, the BMC will allow vaccination only through online appointments at 266 centres across the city. The drive will remain suspended on Sunday, June 6.

Releasing the list of centres, the BMC said that the centres will administer 70 per cent first doses and 30 per cent second doses. However, the Covishield vaccines at the centres will be administered to people who are over 45 years of age.

According to reports, Mumbai on Thursday, June 3, registered 961 cases today against 925 reported on June 2. However, the financial capital logged 21 deaths due to Covid on Thursday while, the city reported 31 deaths on Wednesday, June 2. Besides, Maharashtra reported 15,229 new Covid infections and 307 deaths on June 3, as per the state's health bulletin.
