Popular Indian singer SP Balasubrahmanyam had tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) on August 5, 2020, and was being treated at Chennai's MGM Healthcare Hospital. However, as per reports released by the hospital on August 14, 2020, SP Balasubramaniam's health has deteriorated and is now critical. He has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He is being monitored by a team of doctors from the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the hospital. The statement released by the doctors read, "There has been a setback in the health of Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of COVID since 5th August 2020. In a late-night development on 13th August, his condition has deteriorated and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the intensive care unit and he is on life support and his condition remains critical. He is currently under observation, by the team of experts from critical care and his haemodynamic and critical parameters are being closely monitored."
Earlier this month, SPB decided to get himself hospitalised after his family members were worried and he was confident about recovering soon. However, it has been a week now and this report from the hospital has raised concerns. He further requested people not to call him and bother him as he can't answer all the calls. Several fans were worried about his health and so he also took to Facebook to share a video with regards to the same.
