In order to maintain peace and order in the Greater Mumbai border, in accordance with Section 37(1)(2), Section 2(6) and Section 10(2) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, a ceasefire in the Greater Mumbai Boundary till 24 September 2021 has been ordered.

The order prohibits citizens to carry, collect, or manufacture weapons, sticks, swords, spears, unlicensed firearms, knives, sticks or any such thing which can be used as weapons. Moreover, making public announcements, singing songs, playing musical instruments, making speeches and gestures which are against civilization or morality or can endanger the peace of the State has been prohibited. In addition, it is prohibited to make or distribute signs, placards or any other object among the public. According to sources, strict legal action will be taken against those who violate this prohibition order.

This order shall not apply to citizens who, by reason of the nature of duty, are required to carry the aforesaid weapons while serving in Government, Semi-Government or Public Undertakings. Moreover, private security guards, Gorkhas, watchmen etc. would not be barred from carrying sticks up to three and a half feet long.
