At a time when the city and the state is reeling under the second wave of coronavirus, even big hospitals are finding it hard to retain their medical staff and patients. However, the one-rupee Clinic in Mumbai, which is being run by Magic Dil Health has managed to do well on this front.

For those unaware, these clinics are located at local train stations across Mumbai. Going forward the plan is to classify these as COVID-19 clinics and they will be equipped to provide treatment at affordable rates. As per reports, nearly 25 more one-rupee clinics across the city will start providing COVID-related services such as RT PCR test, antigen test, blood test, antibody test, CT Scan, consultation and medication from June 1.

Currently, Dr Rahul Ghule, MD Magic Dil Health managing director, is managing eight COVID-19 care centres and hospitals comprising more than 2,500 beds in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

One-Rupee Clinic, as the name suggests, charges Re 1 per patient for their services. The clinics have been set up at select stations on the Central Railway’s suburban section to provide emergency help to rail accident victims and give medical treatment to the railway commuters as well as the general public.

While quality healthcare is expensive, these clinics aim to reduce the gap between affordable and quality healthcare by providing access to qualified doctors 24x7.
