On Thursday, the Bombay High Court resolved to operate a hybrid model in its benches. Whilst currently it mainly operates virtually, from August 2 onwards, it will sit physically thrice a week and sit virtually on one day. This move comes amid the reduction of COVID-19 cases.

The HC Administrative Committee met bar associates, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and state government officials, during which this resolution was undertaken.

A summary by the Bombay Bar Association standing committee stated that an application needs to be sent via email for the circulation of matters. However, lawyers will be allowed to state pressing matters for hearing dates through the video call.

Additionally, appellants can visit the court only if their attendance is needed by the judiciary. The registry will distribute the new SOP.
