Mumbai has fully inoculated 50% of its adult population of 92.4 lakh, making it the foremost district in the state to attain this threshold, stated a report by the Times of India. More than 44.6 lakh individuals are fully jabbed and almost 93% which is 86 lakh people have been administered at least one jab. In addition to this, in the state, 30% are fully inoculated.

Iqbal Singh Chahal, the civic authority commissioner, based on the report elaborated that he was hopeful that the city’s complete adult population will be inoculated with a minimum of one-shot by the end of October, stated the narrative.

The maximum reportage has been amongst the senior citizens wherein more than 76% are fully jabbed and more than 100% have attained at least their first vaccine. In the age group of 45-59, more than 100% have attained their first jab and 71% are fully jabbed. On the other spectrum, in the age group of 18-44, 82% have received at least their first jab. In addition to this, considering that those residing in adjoining areas are also attained jabs in Mumbai, the age criteria have more than 100% coverage.

Since January an aggregate of 1.3cr doses has been given in the city from which almost 42% which is 53.6lakh is through the private sector. In Pune, on the other hand, 43% have been completely inoculated.

Based on the account, Chahal elaborated that they could partially vaccinate everyone by the end of October and fully vaccinate all by the end of December. He also attributed the city’s vaccination numbers over others to the model that comprises the BMC, corporates, private hospitals. Many CRS initiatives have enabled the vaccination drive in regions of the slum as well.

Whilst some believe there continues to be some level of hesitancy, Chahal is of the opinion that there isn’t scope for this since access to a plethora of services is linked to vaccination.
