Every year, millions of people, across Maharashtra, travel to different cities and native places on the occasion of Diwali, and keeping this in mind, the State Transport (ST) corporation plans additional bus trips to ensure enough seats for commuters. However, passengers have been asking if the ST will plan the same this year, keeping the coronavirus pandemic in mind. 

Addressing the queries,  the corporation has decided to offer good news to the commuters and has confirmed that MSRTC has planned additional bus trips this year. As per previous years, the passenger crowd is expected to increase on the occasion of Diwali, and considering the of the increasing demand, the ST Corporation from November 1 to November 22, will operate more than 1000 special services on a daily basis.

Information regarding the same was shared by State Transport Minister and President of ST Corporation Adv. Anil Parab.

The plan for Diwali 2020 will be similar to that of the previous years where additional buses are operated keeping the festive demands.

As per the directives issued by the state government, officials from the ST administration have been instructed to follow the COVID-19 guidelines strictly to ensure passenger safety. Instructions have been given to the respective headquarters to share same, as following the rules will help in preventing the spread of the virus.

Besides this, depots have been asked to control the crowd as the response for the passengers has been increasing. Officials at the transport department of the corporation have been asked to ensure smooth operations during Diwali and the other days of festivals.
