The data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), depicts that on September 29, 527 patients tested positive for coronavirus in the Greater Mumbai area. The recoveries on the other hand were much lower than this, with 405 patients who tested positive, recovered and were discharged. With this, the progressive total active patients in the city are 4724.

On Wednesday, six fatalities were reported due to the coronavirus, three of whom had comorbidities. These were three male and female patients, one death was between the age bracket of 40 to 60, whilst the other five deaths were over the age of 60.

With these latest updates in statistics, the recovery rate of the island city is at 97% and the overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai between September 22 and 28 is 0.06%. The doubling rate of the city now stands at 1185 days.

Additionally, based on the containment measures undertaken on September 28, there are zero active containment zones in the city. There are, however, 51 active sealed buildings. The civic authority undertook high-risk contact tracing in the past 24 hours of 2,578 people.

In other developments, the civic authority, chief, Iqbal Singh Chahal accorded permissions to schools and junior colleges in the city to reopen to grades 8-12 from Monday, October 4.
