COVID-19 Vaccination: With administering 1.44 crore doses in August, Maharashtra crosses 6-crore mark

According to the latest report, in the month of August, Maharashtra administered 1.44 crore doses, a 19 per cent improvement over July and 45 per cent over June. With this, Maharashtra has crossed the milestone of six crore vaccinations.

Even as Maharashtra is way far from fully vaccinating all the adults in the state, which comprises 9.5 crores, it has administered one shot to 45 per cent (4.37 crore) of the population. 

As per data launched by the health department on Wednesday, September 1, confirmed vaccinations in the state have risen from 2.61 lakhs in January to 9.39 lakhs in February. 

Meanwhile, in March, it touched 50.44 lakhs, doubling to at least one crore in April. It dropped in May to 62 lakhs earlier than hovering to 99 lakhs in June and 1.21 crores in July. 

Accordingly, the state is anticipating vaccinating 1.70 crore people in September.

Moreover, within the state, Sindhudurg has toppled Kolhapur to turn into the district that has administered most doses to those above 45 years. Besides, the district in the Konkan area has vaccinated practically 86 per cent with no less than one dose. Meanwhile, Environment minister Aaditya Thackeray stated Mumbai, too, hit a record on Monday, August 30, by vaccinating 336 recipients each minute. This means a total of 1.61 lakh doses were administered in a day.

He applauded the dedication of the healthcare workers and frontline workers in the direction of making Mumbai COVID-free.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, September 1, Maharashtra administered 9.46 lakh doses whereas Mumbai vaccinated over 1.39 lakh beneficiaries.
