Last year BG Kher Marg (earlier known as Ridge Road) was damage in a landslide at Malabar Hill that took place this year and has been shut ever since. However, now it has come to light that the repair works of the road will commence only after monsoon next year, reports highlighted.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials have said that they are laying water pipelines underneath. The work will start only after the water pipeline work is done. The civic body is waiting for the monsoon next year before commencing the work as they want to see the effects of heavy rains.

In August 2020, it was hit by a landslide, following which the road was shut. It had damaged the water pipelines which supplied water to the neighbourhood. However, the water supply was immediately restored through makeshift arrangements, but the civic body will have to fix these pipelines permanently before starting the work on Ridge road.

Officials have stated that they are almost done preparing the tenders for appointing a contractor. They will only float them the Hydraulic Engineering department finishes its work which is likely to get over in another three or four months.

The road is crucial as it connects the Malabar Hill area to major junctions of Hughes Road, Napeansea Road and Peddar Road.

Meanwhile, the Oshiwara bridge is now open for vehicular movement, after being shut for nearly four months due to heavy rains that occurred this year on July 17-18 midnight.
