On Monday, April 25, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray shared his thoughts on the ongoing Hanuman Chalisa and loudspeaker row transpiring in the state. He reportedly mentioned that while he would welcome anyone to his house to chant the prayers, he wouldn’t bow to any sort of bullying.

His comments came at a programme launch of the National Common Mobility Card wherein he elaborated on how reading the Hanuman Chalisa was not the problem. He even said that people could come to his house to read it, but he wouldn’t tolerate bullying.

He was quoted saying, “If anyone resorts to dadagiri, we know how to do the same.” He assured that he would soon address a rally and speak about the present situation.

Thackeray went to share his two cents on those questioning his Hindutva by uttering that he has learnt Hindutva by visiting the “shakas”. He reportedly added, “Who was present when Babri Masjid was demolished or when the court ordered the construction of a Ram mandir at the Babri site? Shiv Sena has taught us Hindutva.”

Based on reports, he then made a veiled attack on MNS Chief Raj Thackeray by voicing that while Shiv Sena’s Hindutva was that of “Gadadhari”, everything else was “Ghantadhari”. The state chief minister is of the opinion that there are certain fake neo-Hindus who look to propagate how saffron they can get.

On the same occasion, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar also added that some people were attempting to hinder India’s peace. He questioned the need to recite the Hanuman Chalisa at Matoshree when we celebrate all festivals anyways.
