The Government of India (GoI) on Wednesday, September 2, announced a ban on popular mobile game PubG, and this move came across as a disappointment for many lovers in the country. However, with an aim to please the fans, and to make a mark with his new investment, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Friday, September 4, announced a multi-player game titled ‘FAU-G: Fearless and United Guards.’

FAU-G is aimed at replacing PubG in India and the game supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ movement. Announcing the same, Akshay Kumar took to social media with a message and said, "Supporting PM @narendramodi’s AtmaNirbhar movement, proud to present an action game, Fearless And United-Guards FAU-G. Besides entertainment, players will also learn about the sacrifices of our soldiers. 20% of the net revenue generated will be donated to @BharatKeVeer Trust #FAUG.”

FAU-G is being developed by nCore Games and is expected to based on real scenarios encountered by the Indian security forces to deal with both domestic and foreign threats. The announcement of its launch will be made soon and the game will be available for both Android and iOS users.

With the ongoing India-China conflict, GoI, after another round of discussions announced a ban on 118 more Chinese apps available for Indian users. The decision was taken keeping the national security concerns in mind. Earlier in June, GoI banned 59 apps which included popular social media app, TikTok, and in July 2020, 47 more apps were suspended.

Pub-G has gained popularity around the world and has garnered more than 600 million downloads with an active player base of more than 50 million users, many of them from India. The app also generated a revenue gain of INR 9,731 crore in the first half of 2020 and has a lifetime collection of nearly INR 22,457 crores with the highest number of downloads in India. As per reports, more than 175 million installs were observed during the coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown.
