In order to boost the inoculation drive in the city, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has decided to start a COVID-19 Vaccination Center in Yeoor village for tribals who are deprived of online registration and cannot travel to the city.

This decision was taken by Mayor Naresh Ganpat Mhaske and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Sharma to vaccinate the tribals on a priority basis. The inoculation will be carried out at the health centre near Patilwadi Municipal School at Yeoor village from Friday, June 4, 2021 between 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.

It was observed that citizens of tribal areas faced issues such as online registration and travel to the city for the vaccination. Moreover, they also had various misconceptions related to the vaccine and inoculation drive.

However, their queries were resolved by the health department and decided to vaccinate them at the earliest as it has come to light that, in the second wave of coronavirus, the infection is rapidly spreading in the rural areas of the state.

Meanwhile, the TMC officials have mentioned that at all the centres under a municipal corporation, preference will be given to disabled and breastfeeding mothers above 45 years of age. Therefore, they will not have to stand in long queues, said Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma.

The TMC is vaccinating health workers, frontline workers and all citizens above 45 years of age under the vaccination campaign. Besides, the free inoculation of students going abroad for higher education has also been started. All the eligible citizens are being vaccinated through online registration and walk-in.
