On Tuesday, September 14, Mumbai reported 367 COVID-19 cases. This happens to be the fourth consecutive day that the city has reported less than 400 coronavirus infections.

According to reports, 735,767 cases have been reported from the city so far. Moreover, with five more fatalities, the death toll in the city touched 16,033, the data showed. In addition, earlier on Monday, the city reported 345 new cases, preceded by 357 cases on Sunday and 361 cases on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that 4,696 COVID-19 cases of the disease are currently present in the city. Also, with 28,498 tests done in the past 24 hours, the cumulative number of samples tested so far went up to 9,769,953 in the city.

On the other hand, the civic body had earlier instructed the officials of all 24 wards to ramp up daily tests for COVID-19 after Ganesh Chaturthi. This comes a day after Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) went above 1 per cent on Monday, September 13. Moreover, officials also stated that it is expected to go up further in the coming days as the city is likely to witness a surge in cases after the Ganesh festival. Earlier, the positivity rate was around 0.8 per cent. Therefore, the civic body aims to conduct around 60,000 tests daily including rapid antigen tests (RAT) for early identification of infected patients.
