According to the latest report, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) suspended the vaccination drive at civic and government-run centres on Friday, August 20.

Both TMC and KDMC had announced no vaccination drive for the day giving non-availability of stock in the centres, which are not made available from the government.

Meanwhile, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will administer the second dose of Covid jabs today, August 20 in Navi Mumbai. Those in the 18-44 age group and above 45 years of age can get their jabs.

Besides, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had on Wednesday, August 18, called off the inoculation on Thursday, August 19 and Friday. August 20 due to shortage of vials.

However, it has come to light that COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at private hospitals in the city are double that of those administered in public centres in August, state reports.

The reason for this is attributed to the fact that public centres were not operational for six days in August so far, due to the shortage of available doses. Citizens were then naturally pulled towards those at private centres.

According to reports, BMC’s data shows that whilst on one hand, private centres gave 5.7 lakh doses from August 1 to 15, centres run by the state government and the civic authority gave 2.9 lakh doses

Maharashtra reported 5,225 new coronavirus cases and 154 deaths on Thursday, while 5,557 more patients recovered from the infection, a health department official said.
