CYDA opens a paediatric COVID care facility in Pune

An official from the association informed that the centre has 260-beds along with oxygen cylinders, ICU, ventilators, labs, healthcare staff, etc.

Pune-based Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) on Monday, May 24, 2021, set up a 250-bed Covid Care facility for children, with an aim to offer treatment for coronavirus infected patients. This centre has been opened along with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) at the Yerwada golf club and has been supported by multiple associations like GiveIndia, Oxfam, SaveTheChildren, etc.

As of now, the centre has 40 beds with facilities for parents to stay along with their children below four years of age. They will be allowed to stay in another room set up nearby. Moreover, to ensure children stay happy and without worries, the team has painted cartoons on the walls. Besides this, nutritious and healthy food is also being provided by the staff.

Talking about the same, an official from the CYDA confirmed that the centre also has an oxygen facility that will help the children in need. This COVID care centre was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also appreciated the work and lauded the efforts put by the team to allow parents of the COVID affected children.  

ANI took to Twitter to share the details which said, "Centre for Youth Development & Activities (CYDA), an NGO, starts a dedicated COVID center for children in Pune. This is a 260-bed Covid care centre for children. We've done all arrangements for their enjoyment. O2 facility is also here: Pravin Jadhav, NGO worker."

Besides the above mentioned facilities, the centre will also have beds and arrangements for COVID patients, 24x7 availability of healthcare staff and assistants, ambulance, laboratory services, ICU, ventilators etc.

A few weeks back, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, during his speech, informed that the country is expecting a third COVID-19 wave and experts have informed that this wave could affect children until the age of 18. Keeping this in mind, necessary arrangements are being made to ensure children are treated well during the pandemic. Discussions are being held with paediatricians to prepare for the same. Moreover, civic bodies have been directed to set up wards exclusively for children and make necessary healthcare facilities available for the treatment, when in need.
