Mumbai: Airport to resume T1 from October 20

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport announced that it would reopen its T1 for domestic flights on Oct 20. T1 would serve approximately 156 flights on a daily basis.

On Monday, October 4, 2021, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport announced that it would reopen its terminal one (T1) for domestic flights on Wednesday, October 20.

In a release, a private airport operator stated that GoFirst, AirAsia India, Star Air, and TruJet would begin their domestic operations from October 20, midnight. IndiGo will resume its select flights from Sunday, October 31, from T1, with most of its flights yet operating from T2.

It said that commencing operations via T1 will be helpful as it will ensure in "maintaining social distancing measures, uphold passenger safety, and ensure a seamless transit." The airport said that the T1 would serve approximately 156 flights on a daily basis, while T2 will cater to 396 flights.

It further added that the passengers will enjoy the luxuries of the lounges while travelling through T1. The airport will adhere to all the COVID-19 guidelines. It will implement the mandatory wearing of face masks, regular sanitization, stringent screening of passengers and personnel, and other PPE.

At the airport, passengers can opt to undergo an RT-PCR test upon their arrival and departure since CSMIA's T1 would host 12 registration desks and 12 testing booths, it added.

The T1 was shut for several months due to a decline in the number of travellers because of COVID-19; however, operations were continued from T2.
