COVID-19 Vaccine: Mulund housing society becomes first to give Covishield jabs

Goregaon’s Gokhuldham Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Officers Quarters became the first ever housing society in the city to have doorstep vaccination in collaboration with a private covid vaccination centre (PCVC). Around 400 residents got Covaxin jabs.

The Atmosphere Society in the Mulund West area of Mumbai commenced the vaccination drive on Wednesday, May 26, in association with Fortis Hospital. It is the first housing society to start administering jabs of the Covishield vaccine. 

According to reports, one of the city’s largest housing complexes with around 720 flats aims to vaccinate nearly 600 people in this 2-day vaccination process. However, around 250 residents were inoculated on the first day and the doorstep vaccination drive continued on Thursday.

A resident, who was coordinating the drive said that the vaccination took place in a very smooth and hassle-free manner as all members were informed well in advance. Each resident has been charged INR 1,050 per dose for the doorstep vaccination.

Currently, the vaccination drive is happening at an allocated space on the campus following BMC rules on setting up vaccine camps as door-to-door inoculation is not allowed.

Meanwhile, Jaslok Hospital conducted a vaccination drive for the Aditya Birla group staff in Worli on Wednesday, May 26. The hospital has administered Covishield to the staff at a rate of INR 930 per dose.

Moreover, it has come to light that several corporates and housing societies have approached the hospital and asked them to conduct a vaccination drive on their premises.
