The Maharashtra government on Tuesday, July 13, announced its new EV policy with an aim of making such vehicles achieve a 10 per cent share of total registrations by 2025.

The policy also offered incentives for setting up public charging stations and aimed at making Maharashtra the country’s top manufacturer of EV in India.

A day after unveiling the policy, the Electric Vehicles (EV) manufacturers’ body welcomed Maharashtra government’s new EV policy.

Moreover, Uday Narang, Chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) also congratulated and thanked the state government for announcing an ambitious electric vehicle policy.

Commenting further Narang said: “This radical step taken by the Maharashtra government to subsidize electric vehicles will provide the much-required stimulus. The INR 930 crores policy aims to get nearly three lakh new EVs on the road every year by 2025. That is not all. The new policy will also help create an estimated 1 lakh new jobs. Besides, the support for setting up charging infrastructure, not just in urban areas but also on highways, will lead to faster adoption of electric vehicles. I hope more and more states follow Maharashtra’s lead and bring out similar incentives and pave the way to make India the Number 1 EV maker.”
