IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings match drew a record 20 crore viewers

After much delay, the IPL 2020 kicked off on September 19. The opening match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians broke all viewership records as 20 crore people tuned in to watch the match. The announcement of this was made by none other than BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah. 

He took to Twitter to share, “Opening match of #Dream11IPL sets a new record! As per BARC, an unprecedented 20 crore people tuned in to watch the match. Highest ever opening day viewership for any sporting league in any country- no league has ever opened as big as this".

The cricketing activities across the world had to hit the pause button due to the coronavirus outbreak. Now with things finally getting on track people are also looking forward to more cricketing action. In the opening match, MS Dhoni too returned to cricketing scene after a hitus of 437 days. 

The opening match was won by Chennai Super Kings. And with this MS Dhoni became the first captain in the history of IPL to record 100 wins as a leader. While one did hope that CSK would continue its winning streak but they lost out to Rajasthan Royal in the match played on September 22. 

Mumbai Indians on the other hand are all set to clash with Kolkata Knight Riders on September 23. The IPL 2020 is being played in UAE this time around.
