Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in a recent interaction, mentioned that the government and healthcare providers across the state of Maharashtra fought the first wave of coronavirus (COVID-19) and are doing the best in the ongoing second wave. However, experts believe that the country will face another wave of COVID-19 pandemic and keeping this in mind, he asked the teams to be equipped with the necessary health facilities which will help in fighting the third wave.
He addressed the healthcare providers during the launch of the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust's Medical Oxygen Plant at Shri Saibaba General Hospital, Shirdi and RTPCR Laboratory Implementation Testing Centre, which was held via online teleconferencing.
Present during the event were Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, state Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Ahmednagar Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif, Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope among other officials.
Sharing more information he said that the state government’s efforts to fight COVID-19 spread will be strengthened by the new Oxygen Generation Project and RT-PCR Laboratory
Furthermore, the plant has the capacity of producing 1200 litres per minute which will supply oxygen to 300 beds in Sainath Hospital.
CM added that after the first wave, the state government made it a priority to improve the health care facilities across all districts and during the second wave, efforts were made to produce more oxygen since the patients needed a lot during the pandemic, which is why the state government has decided to promote such oxygen generation projects.
Officials state that the decision taken by Shri Saibaba Sansthan to start an oxygen production project will prove to be life saver for the patients.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar shared that the manner in which the state has dealt with the outbreak of corona was noticed by the Union Ministry of Health, the High Court, and has been appreciated both at the national and international levels. If the second wave affected the young adults, the third wave is likely to affect the children, which is why directions given by the experts are being followed to tackle the same efficiently. People's representatives, office bearers, officers, employees, health workers, Anganwadi workers and police are contributing to the fight.
The number of interim patients which had increased in the district are declining now, and efforts are underway to prevent the infection from spreading further, and tests are being conducted to control the infection, added Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.
