The mainstream media went ‘gaga’ over Patanjali’s announcement of a new COVID-19 drug. Yoga Guru Ramdev claimed that the Ayurvedic medicine for COVID-19 managed to cure 69 per cent patients in three days while 100 per cent patients recovered in seven days.
Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) ordered Patanjali to stop advertisement for the products and asked for the details of the medicine. It said that medicine should come to the ministry first.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh welcomed the move by Ministry of AYUSH to ban the advertisement of the Patanjali drug. He said that claims of curing coronavirus without sharing clinical trials, sample size details can’t be acceptable.
Deshmukh asserted that there can be no compromise with public health and well being in any case while adding that the drug which claims to cure COVID-19 should be registered with the authorities first.
“Claims of a cure for Corona without sharing clinical trials, sample size details, registration with authorities can't be acceptable. It's great that Ministry of AYUSH banned such advt. There can be no compromise with public health & well-being at all! (sic),” the Maharashtra Home Minister tweeted.

Patanjali has claimed that the report of patients suffering from the coronavirus will be negative in just seven days once they use the drug which has been named as Coronil.
As per Patanjali, the drug contains a mixture of gilloy, ashwagandha, tulsi, shavsari juice and atomic oil. Ramdev has stated that more than 100 medicinal ingredients have been used in Coronil. The whole kit will help strengthen the immune system.
