On Thursday evening, citizens from Powai, Ghatkopar, Vile Parle, Goregaon East Powai, Andheri, complained that they could smell gas. They even took to Twitter to complain about the same. Many even complained that they were trying to reach Mahanagar Gas Limited via the helpline but could not get through or had been put on long holds.
According to an earlier report, Mirror Now, Mumbai’s civic body attributed the leak to Rashtriya Chemical Fertiliser's Chembur plant. The report also mentioned that the leak has been contained. However, BMC though it's Twitter handle has now said that there was no leak at the chemical fertilizer plant.
Unconfirmed information of some leakage in RCF Chembur had been reported. However there is no leakage in RCF;

4 hours and counting, authorities still not clear in Mumbai as to what the mysterious gas leak is. BMC and MGL have deployed their teams to find the source. There is no leak from RCF. BMC chief told colleague @siddhantvm it could be from a moving vehicle. #gasleak
