Maharashtra Minister of Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant in a press conference mentioned that the state government has decided to fill the vacant posts of 2088 professors in recognized colleges that come under the direction of the Directorate of Higher Education.

The recruitment will be done in phases and the details in this regard will be issued soon by the government.

Taking it to Twitter, Samant said: “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Saheb Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar approval has been given for the recruitment of 2088 professors in the first phase and filling up of all principal posts.”

On October 1, 2020, the department had submitted a proposal to the Finance Department to fill the posts of assistant professors on the basis of the number of students. But approval has been given to fill 2088 posts now. An order in this regard will be issued soon. The recruitment process will be done in a transparent manner and successful candidates will be appointed in the academic year 2022-23, Samant said.

Old pension to non-NET / SET teachers

The services of non-NET/SET teachers appointed during the period from October 23, 1992 to April 3, 2000, have been continued till their retirement without any interruption. He was given a newly defined contribution pension scheme.

The non-NET/SET teachers appointed during this period did not get the benefit of retirement. As per the order of the High Court on October 29, 2021, it was decided to allow the old superannuation pay to the non-NET/SET teachers appointed during this period keeping in view the date of their original appointment as per the prevailing policy.

Samant also said that 4133 general teachers have got the benefit of old retirement scheme due to this decision.

Vaccination of students under Mission Youth Health Initiative

This initiative has been implemented from October 25, 2021 to November 2, 2021 and a total of 81880 students have been vaccinated under the Higher Education Department. Also, Samant informed that a total of 27,031 students have been vaccinated under the Technical Education Department.
