As reported by the PTI, in 1986, a criminal wanted in a murder case had jumped bail. After nearly 35 years, on Monday the said criminal was arrested by the Trombay police. They found him at a slum in south Mumbai, claim reports.

The criminal, Prakash Murarilal Ratan also known as Pakya earned a livelihood by selling garlands. The 59-year-old has been residing in a slum in Cuffe Parade for the past 20 years. He managed to dodge the authorities by altering not just his name, but also his son’s.

According to reports, based on a rivalry, Ratan is said to have allegedly stabbed a thug to death. These events transpired in 1984, in the Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar vicinity.

Although Ratan was arrested, he received bail in 1986. Since then, he never showed up for a hearing in the court. Owing to this, a non-bailable warrant was made against him.

On finally being nabbed after all these years, he was made to appear in court on Monday. The judicial authority has now detained him in judicial custody, state reports.
