The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are likely to be held next year in February. Ahead of the polls, corporators across parties have questioned the civic body over water shortage in various parts of Mumbai.

They asked the administration that there was a water shortage even though the dams were filled with full capacity. They even asked about the disparity in water distribution. The corporators have alleged that the civic authority has intentionally tampered with the water supply in some areas as they want to ruin the image of the corpoartor in that ward.

Ravi Raja, Congress corporator and opposition party leader, raised the issue of water-related problems, which has been ongoing since October 16, stated reports.

On the other hand, Sandhya Doshi, Education Committee Chairman and Shiv Sena corporator, said that her phone was filled with messages from people complaining about the water supply problems in her ward in Borivali.

Bhalchandra Shirsat, a BJP nominated corporator, said that even though the corporators were raising the issue about water-related problems, there were no concerned authorities to note these problems and work on them.

Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner, admitted that the water situation was good in the lakes; he did, however, not have specific details about the water issue in corporator Ravi Raja's ward. Later, the civic administration committee meeting was adjourned over the issue.
