Higher secondary students have returned to school in Mumbai on Monday, after 18 months. According to reports, throughout the state, schools have opened their doors to grades 5 and 12.

Equipped with bags and masks, students had to get into their uniforms after months to an end. Whilst many students couldn’t wait to get back to school, others were lethargic claimed accounts.

For the academic year 2021-22, online education had commenced in Maharashtra from June 15. A month into this, hinterlands that were free of coronavirus were allowed to open their doors to grade 8-12 pupils.

The threat of the third wave hitting children deterred parents from sending their children to schools initially. In the island city, from Monday that is October 4, students from grades 8 to 12 went back to their classrooms.

Based on accounts, along with decorations, temperature checks and sanitisers were present in the schools. Some narratives also claim that state chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray will be speaking to schools, students and teachers. In the city, 2,553 schools comprise 5.13 lakh higher secondary students, stated accounts.

On Monday, Varsha Gaikwad visited schools in the city to not just check on the arrangement, but also see how the students were doing.

The school education department of the state has also propelled students as well as educational establishments to post pictures from their first day back to school.
