State Election Commission Begins Updation, Correction Of Electoral Rolls

The State Election Commission has commenced the updation, as well as, the rectification of the electoral rolls amidst the approaching local body elections slated to be conducted early next year, highlighted reports.

Based on accounts, the electoral roll was published on November 1. If citizens wish for their names to be included in the electoral rolls, they can do so till November 30. In addition to this, they can also make rectifications to their election card details. It is claimed that the updated electoral rolls will be issued on January 5.

In other developments, in the by-elections to the Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha seat, Shiv Sena candidate, Kalaben Delkar won the elections by a whopping margin of 51,269 votes. She is the wife of the earlier MP Mohan Delkar, whose death caused the contesting of the by-poll.

Moreover, with the BMC Elections expected to be conducted in 2022, the state election commission has decided to conduct a special voter registration drive from November 1 to 30. Through this initiative, citizens can make changes in their addresses and names.

The civic authority is preparing for the arriving elections on a war footing with the commencement of the process to verify the delimitation of the ward boundaries in Mumbai.
